CIS 119+ - Introduction to Python Programming and Problem Solving

4 credits
A course to introduce Python programming and problem solving. This course will provide a strong foundation for future programming courses. Python has been selected as the programming language of choice. Students will able to write Python code from the start of the course and each programming assignment will incorporate new programming concepts. Some of these concepts include: decision statements, functions, lists and an introduction to graphics using Turtle, and tkinter. Students will explore various integrated developments environments and online tools. In additions to writing Python code students will demonstrate the importance of planning, pseudocode and flow charting as part of the software development process. Learning occurs through a variety of learning modalities including lecture, hands-on activities, and the application of skills through a student designed project. [As Needed] Three hours lecture, two hours lab per week.
Prereq/Corequisite:
CIS 109   or approval from the CIS program coordinator.  MAT 107+
