NUR 130 - Advanced Concepts of Practical Nursing6 credits A required course for students seeking a certificate in practical nursing. Nursing concepts in this course build on previously taught content, with emphasis on high risk childbearing families, geriatric psychiatry, and chronic healthcare problems. Management skills and the professional role of the practical nurse are emphasized. While contributing to the nursing process, the student uses therapeutic communication techniques, teaching/learning and management principles, and critical thinking when providing care to individuals across the life-span in a variety of clinical settings in the hospital and community. [SUMMER] Course Fee. Eight hours lecture, 16 hours clinical per week for seven and one-half weeks. Prerequisite(s): NUR 120 , BIO 202 , ENG 101 .
