CRT 155+ - Medical Assessment and Intervention1 credit A study of medical disorders. Topics include: diabetic emergencies, anaphylaxis, poisoning and overdoses, neurological emergencies, non-traumatic abdominal emergencies, gynecological emergencies, behavioral disorders and substance abuse. This course will focus on assessment and the development of an appropriate plan of care. Techniques covered will include blood sugar analysis, gastric management, antidote administration, and non-violent crisis intervention. [SPRING] One hour and thirty minutes lecture per week and four hours laboratory per semester. Prerequisite(s): Current certification as a Maryland or Nationally Registered EMT.
