Accelerated Pathway for Special Populations to Complete the Associate of Science in Nursing Degree
This is an established advanced academic pathway specifically tailored for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN’s), Paramedics, and Veterans to complete the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing at Chesapeake College.
Chesapeake College has partnered with American Public University System (APUS) to create an accelerated program combining credential assessment, credit transfer, and online education to enable qualified LPN’s, paramedics, navy corpsman, army medics and air force medical technicians to be admitted to the second year of Chesapeake College/MGW’s nursing program. Upon completion of six (6) credits of nursing theory that will be taken online through APUS, students will be eligible to complete two (2) credits of Direct Clinical Practice (DCP) through Chesapeake College. Once these requirements have been successfully completed through APUS and CC/MGW, the student will be eligible to enter the second year of the associate of science degree in nursing at Chesapeake College.
The six credit nursing theory course taken through APUS is individualized to meet the unique needs of each group of learners and is delivered in an online format.
