RSR 230 - Radiation Biology and Protection2 credits A study of the effect of ionizing radiation on body tissues at the molecular and cellular level. An overview of the interaction of radiation with living systems and the factors affecting biological responses will be studied. The responsibilities of the radiographer to ensure that patients, personnel and the public are protected from excessive radiation exposure and the regulations affecting ionizing radiation at the federal- and state-level will be discussed. [SPRING] Two hours lecture, one hour laboratory per week. Prerequisite(s): RSR 132 .
