THE 172 - Introduction to Theatre3 credits | Meets a General Education requirement. A survey of theatrical forms from ancient times to the present day. The course is designed to familiarize the student with the practices, philosophies, terminologies, and purposes of the theatre. It includes an analysis of the basic elements of the theatre: the play, playwright, player, director, and audience. [FALL/SPRING] Three hours per week. Prerequisite(s): Complete ENG 094+ as a prerequisite, or appropriate placement score. Prereq/Corequisite: Take MAT 023 as a pre or corequisite, or appropriate placement score. Note: All developmental courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better in order to progress to the next developmental level or into college-level courses.
