Program Mission: The Chesapeake College Interactive Media and Web Design Basic Certificate provides students with the basic concepts and skills to design interactive media and web pages. The basic certificate is designed so that students may progress to the Interactive Media and Web Design Advanced Certificate or Degree option.

Program Description: The Interactive Media and Web Design Basic Certificate is designed to provide knowledge of basic skills for entry-level employment. Students should consult with the College’s Admissions Office or an academic advisor in planning an appropriate program.

Program Goals: The Interactive Media and Web Design Basic Certificate program will:

  • Emphasize technical competency, professional knowledge and ethical responsibility.
  • Prepare students for entry-level employment in interactive media and Web design or for further study in the field.

Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Create basic web sites with industry standard web-authoring technologies.
  • Adapt new and emerging technology in the workplace.
  • Evaluate professional responsibilities concerning ethical issues that may be present in the interactive media and web design environment.
  • Apply appropriate industry terminology in the interactive media and web design setting.
