Program Mission: The Chesapeake College Microcomputer Applications Specialist Basic Certificate provides students with basic concepts and skills in the installation and use of software for microcomputers in a business or technical environment. The basic certificate is designed so that students may progress to the Microcomputer Applications Specialist Advanced Certificate or Degree option.
Program Description: The Microcomputer Applications Basic Certificate is designed to provide knowledge of basic skills for entry-level employment. Students should consult with the College’s Admissions Office or an academic advisor in planning an appropriate program.
Program Goals: The Microcomputer Applications Specialist Basic Certificate program will:
- Emphasize technical competency, professional knowledge and ethical responsibility.
- Integrate knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom to a PC applications support/training environment.
- Provide basic knowledge of applications packages and troubleshooting skills.
- Prepare students for entry-level employment or for further study in the field.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Implement microcomputer applications and systems software.
- Efficiently and effectively communicate technical ideas.
